Green Tree Festival

It's been any years since we've been able to make the Green Tree Parade.....we never have a free Saturday morning.  But weather helped it out this year and the rain cancelled all of our games, and then it cleared up nicely in time for the parade.  We watched the parade, collected candy, danced in the bubbles, and headed home.  I think this is only Maddie's second parade, but probably the first one that she remembers.....

San Fransisco

Mike had a conference in San Fransisco a few weeks back and I was able to tag along as Jeanne stayed at our house with the kids and held down the fort.  I basically have to make a spreadsheet of everyones schedule to get out of town.  But the kids enjoyed the time with their Grandma to themselves and I think she managed everything quite well.

We got there on a Tuesday night....by the time we got there and got to the hotel we had time to grab dinner from a burger joint across the street from the hotel and then we went back and went to bed.  The next morning we had a tour set up to go to the Muir Woods and three wineries, two in Sonoma and one in Napa.  We also got to stop by the Golden Gate Bridge on our way back.  We then asked the driver to let us out at the Fishermen's Wharf.  We walked around there for a while and then walked back through China Town and ate dinner.  We then headed back to the hotel and I went to bed and Mike stayed up and worked on his talk for the next day.
The next day Mike went to his meetings and I went down and walked along the pier.....and went back to the Wharf and got the kids some souvenirs.  Mike got finished with his meetings and then we went for a late lunch, walked around some more and then headed back to get ready for the baseball game.  The Cards happened to be in town, which was super fun....eventhough we lost.  The game was FREEEEEZING cold, but was very cool to see another stadium.
After the game we headed back, went to bed, and hit the road for the airport first thing in the morning.  It was a fun trip!  Glad I got to tag a long with him.

A little FaceTime action the first morning, I was just getting out of bed and they were getting ready to head to school.......

Jack goes trucking with Grandpa

After their sleepover and the Farm I met mom and dad in St. Charles.  Dad had to drop his big truck off there, so Jack rode along with him.  Jack didn't seem overly thrilled by the time he got out and Dad said he's not going to be a future trucker, as he was eying up the bed in the back like his Grandma (and like his mom would too!).

Fishing Derby, 2016

The Eversmeyer's hosted another successful fishing derby.  We brought home no trophies but the kids brought home some great memories instead.  They really love this day every year.  And, I might add....we might, just might be becoming better losers.  Even though we brought home no trophies, we didn't cry about it this year.
The kids fished.....they all caught plenty to keep them interested and occupied.  And they did a fine job keeping Mike occupied too.  He may or may not have snapped at me to help him more.....fishing just isn't my thing.  I'll go and take the movies and pictures....everything else about it, I just don't enjoy.  Never have, and I guess I never will.
They then played some yard games that Toni had prepared, ate dinner, went fishing some more, and finished by the camp fire.  At the campfire we made amores and Logan plays the guitar and Wyatt sang us some tunes.  The song they played and sang a couple times (Closer, by the Chainsmokers) is now Maddie's favorite song.  She calls it her jam.  Her face LIGHTS up and she is pumped every time is comes on the radio.  I finally had to download it so she could listen to it many times a day.
The kids then somehow talked Grandma Farm into letting them stay the night at her house.  So we took them to the farm, gave them a bath, and passed them to Grandma.  We made Maddie a pallet on her floor and the big kids slept in the room off the kitchen that they always sleep in.
They had a great day, I'm 100% sure!

These days......

are limited.  This is not a sight that happens much anymore.  Too busy and too big.....but this day it must have been needed.......an afternoon nap!
