Peyton's New Softball Team

Peyton is on a new softball team this year.  It's within the same club, but an entire new group of girls and the club coach is now coaching them.  This is super excited as I really think this guy is top notch....I might find out otherwise, but I'm really impressed with him thus far and Peyton is LOVING it!!!  They are a GREAT little team and I'm excited to see where they head if they stay together for a while.
They played their first tournament together last weekend and took 2nd.  Peyton had a lot of fun and is super excited about softball right now!

Naughty, but sweet

Peyton usually stays up for a while in her room after we put everyone to bed.  Some nights when she's not very sleepy, I think she gets bored and cons Maddie or Jack in to coming in and keeping her company.  That is against mom and dad rules, everyone should be in their own rooms going to bed.  The other night I went upstairs and was expecting to see everyone in their beds asleep.  I went in Maddies room and couldn't find her....went into Peyton's room and found them both.....sound to sleep.  I took the picture and then carried Maddie back to her room.  Maddie still requires bedrails, so leaving her be would not be a very good idea.

Annie Dog

The kids LOVE to hang with Annie in the mornings.  Everyone is usually tired and moving slow.....rare for the dog and the kids.  Annie is still moving slow enough here that I could catch the three of them still enough for a picture.

So cute!  I went in to wake Maddie up a few mornings ago and found this......

American Heritage Camp

Peyton talked me into letting her add one more thing to her schedule this year, American Heritage.  They had a weekend long camp a few weekends ago, but due to 100 other things we had going on, we could only make it Saturday night.  Peyton, her friend CeCe, and I headed off the Perry, Missouri (middle of no where!).  It was a good two hour drive.  It was almost dark by the time we actually got there.  The girls quickly found their friends and they were off.  They ran around and played, made and ate smores, hung around the camp fire, and then at 10:00 we all headed to bed.  The three of us slept in a STINKY 3 man boy scout tent.  We were kind of crammed in there, but it worked.  The girls giggled and told stories for a while and then fell asleep.

The next morning we were up at 6:30 and everyone went to mass at the little bitty church in their town.  Following mass we headed to the VFW hall for a pancake breakfast.  These city girls were hilarious!  They were in culture shock.  They could not wrap their brain around how anyone could smoke and if they did, how were they allowed to smoke in a building?!?!?!  Well, not everyone has the same laws at St. Louis County.  The best part was, the old man stirring the batter was smoking at the same time......truly was a culture shock for all the girls and most of the parents too.  HA!!!  Then the girls went up and asked if they could have "chocolate chip" pancakes.  When they told them they didn't have any, they couldn't quite fathom that either.......truly roughing it!!  :)

We then headed back to camp to break down all the tents and help pack up everything else.  Then back to the car for our 2 hour drive.  When we got in the car Peyton said, "Thanks mom for taking me, I had a really good time!".  Had she not said that, I would have certainly questioned myself if it was worth the drive and time.  But I guess it was, as she enjoyed it!!!

STP Chess Club makes it on TV

The Magic House is opening a new chess exhibit and asked the St. Peter Chess Club to help with their TV blurb on advertising the new exhibit.  They had a chess master play against the St. Peter 8th graders.  Most of the students got to be live pawns and the chess master just moved them.  It was pretty cool, and Jack thought it was awesome!!!  I never did get to see it on TV but mom did and she said she was able to catch a quick glimpse of Jack.

Cards Game

Jack and his buddy Charlie had quite the time a few weeks ago at the Cards game.  The weather was a little rocky and it started raining.....the place started clearing out so Mike, Kyle, Charle, and Jack started inching their way closer and closer to home plate.  The ended up pretty close and had a great night at the ballpark.  I'm sure every other night Jack goes now will be boring compared to this night. One of the people next to them had a stuffed squirrel and busted out the "rally squirrel".  Jack and Charlie weren't too sure about that.  At the end of the game as the umpires ran through their tunnel, they tossed one of the game balls up to Jack......how excited!!!!  It's placed proudly on top of his dresser now......a cherished memory!!  What a fun night!!!  AND, the Cards brought home a win.....finally!  I'm not sure if the Friedman kids have ever brought home a win!!
