Lots of rumble on the courts

Tonight the kids' tennis coach put them as partners.... Not a good idea.  There was lots of sibling arguing and blaming on their side of the court.....

As a side note.... They are also bright kids.  A few weeks ago at tennis, Karim (their coach) came over and said, "did you see that peyton actually PICKED Jack to be her partner?!?"  He knows they get along "real" well too.  I said, "yeah she picked him for this one because she knows his strengths."  She knew the game/competition they were doing, Jack was good at and she wanted to win, so then her brother is good enough to be her partner.

Maddie is READY!

This child is hilarious!  You'd think she would be so sick and tired of running around to the big kids' stuff all day, every weekend…but NOPE!  Just this weekend she has been to tennis practice, 4 soccer games, and getting ready to head to a volleyball game and 2 baseball games.  She just woke up from her nap and busts out of her door saying "I'm ready for volleyball and baseball!"  And proceeds to bring me her boots and socks.  It's a darn good thing she likes to go!
She likes to go to it all, but she also knows which teams are her favorites…..she knows the teams that have younger siblings like her to play with, those are her top picks.  If Peyton and Jack have games that overlap, she wants to know which games and teams they are before she picks which direction/game she will go to….smart little lady, just trying to figure out which event is going to be the best for her social life!

Gross??....maybe. Funny???....yes!!

"Mom, come look at my big snake!"

Recess duty

The kids are getting a new playground at school right now so there isn't much space to play right now.  The boys manage to find something to do tho.... Intense games of four squares...... Girls on the other hand just layed around and acted silly....

Jack is the first blue slip victim

I got a phone call last week from school.  Peyton hadn't been feeling well that day so I just assumed it was going to be the nurse.  To my surprise it was Dr. Frietag on the other end...... Uh oh!!!
He says, "Mrs. Friedman, it's Dr. Frietag. Peyton and Jack are fine, I'm just calling because Jack received a blue slip today."
Jack and a friend were in the bathroom and made a ball out of a paper towel and flipped the hand dryer upside down, stuck in the paper towel and turned it on to see if it would blow the paper towel out.  OK, so a little science experiment isn't quite the best bathroom behavior.... Could be worse, I suppose.  Of all my kids tho, Jack is the first one to get a blue slip?!!?!
When I picked Jack up from school I did not tell him that I knew.  He was pretty quiet on the way home and then as soon as we got home he put his book bag down, dug it out and handed it to me.  As he handed it to me he said, "sorry mom."
We talked about it, he was sad, and then I asked him what he thought he should do to fix it.  He thought he should write an apology, so he did.  He then went outside by himself and cried on the deck.  At this point is it bad that I got sad for him??
When his dad got home he had to tell him and Mike asked him what his punishment should be.  He said he thought he should miss dessert for a week.
I think it's safe to say that he won't be being silly in the bathroom for quite some time.
I emailed his teacher and apologized for Jack's behavior and told her I didn't think she'd have to worry about that behavior again in the future.  She agreed.  She said, "it was so hard seeing him so sad."
Well, we got that mile stone out of the way.....

Guilty and sad

Writing his apology

Official signature on the slip

Is that not the saddest thing you've ever seen?!?!
