Covid Survival Kit

Well, here was my grocery delivery yesterday.  I think it sums it up nicely.....
Fruit, spinach, and wine.....we've got this!

Still Trying to Find the Humor

These were my favorite funnies this week!!!

1st Week of Virtual Learning....

Lots of firsts happened this week.

Virtual Learning started Wednesday morning, and we are slowing getting in a groove.  We started the morning with 8:15 all school mass streamed at home.
And then we started going through emails from all the teachers and trying to get a game plan!!

We've only had one set of tears so far.....Jack and IXL didn't get along very well yesterday.

We've had our first Zoom (like a group FaceTime) 1st grade learning session, with the teacher and the aide both present.

We are hoping Peyton passes, cause she wants ZERO help learning to organize this, so I hope she's doing a good job....I have no idea.

We have different choices in seating arrangements......fireplace, deck, trampoline, dining room table, kitchen table, desk, bedroom floor, couch, bed.....you name it, they've utilized it.  Peyton prefers her room, we don't see her much.

School uniforms are a thing of the past.....it appears, pants, shirts, and bras are optional for homeschooling....

Everyone complains about homeschool PE class....especially Peyton.  We've went for runs, attempted family yoga (not much zen in that room!!!), played tennis, push ups, sit ups, lunges, soccer.......

I've also had my first virtual coffee talk with Leigh-Anne, Taylor, and Maggie.  It's been fun starting our ays like this......and I had my first virtual happy hour last night with St. Peter moms......Thank the good Lord for technology.  It's helping keep ALL out our sanity!!!

If you could tell me that all my friends and family are going to be ok, safe, and healthy.....then I would tell you, I don't mind this staying at home thing AT ALL!!!!  I'm loving all the organizing I'm getting done around here, I don't miss the running 100 different places at night, I'm actually caught up on sleep (I really didn't think this was a thing, but it IS!!!!).

Turns out, when gym class it to take the dogs on a three mile walk, they get pretty worn out.....

New Sleeping Arrangements.....

Well with Covid ramping up and Mike back to working in the hospitals, we've had to make a few adjustments around here.

Mike now has to strip and change as soon as he gets home, leaving his shoes in the garage.
He puts on a mask (sometimes, he's not SUPER good about this part), and he now has the king, master bed to himself.  I've moved myself into Jack's room and Jack has moved into the basement.

All is well.....

After 4 days of "social distancing"......

Well, we have now been locked down in our home four days.....just the five of us, and have gone nowhere besides the bank to have something notarized, and the pharmacy drive thru line last night.  One of the drugs they are thinking MIGHT be helpful for Rona, is one of the meds I used for my RA. So, I had to call three pharmacies yesterday until I finally found one that was not sold out of it.  I didn't quite need the refill yet, but thought I better run out and grab it before I can't find it anywhere.

So far, these are the things I've learned:
1.  Jack can actually crack and fry an egg all by himself.
2.  Maddie can make waffles from start to finish, 100% unassisted (minus the cleanup part!!!)
3.  All three kids can sort, fold, and put away laundry
4.  To give up on screen time limits.....for now, anyway......
5.  We actually need groceries delivered every other day when all five of us are eating every meal and every snack at home
6.  There is a true, actual feeling of being CAUGHT UP ON SLEEP.  I didn't know if that really existed, but it does
7.  Virtual playdates can actually be a HUGE success!!!  Maddie has been having playdates with her friends over a messenger app for kids, and it's a HUGE hit!  They talk, they practice gymnastics together, they play games, they do crafts.....it's super cute!
8.  We can actually tire the dogs out!!  On Saturday, the weather was mild, and I think they dogs got to go on 6 walks!!  The last one, Gus actually turned early into our driveway, when we usually pass it and come back around to it.  He was trying to cut his last walk short.  HA!

Things we've accomplished so far:
Not much yet...hopefully this list will start growing this week, as we settle into a routine.
1.  Cleaned out the game cabinet
2.  Put together every puzzle in the puzzle cabinet and decided if they were keepers or if they go to the donate pile.
3.  Cleaned out the electronic cabinet.
4.  Caught up on the blog
5.  Cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner four straight days!!!
6.  Cleaned out my desk

Today, I'm going to actually try to get dressed out of my PJ's (I've just been rotating between morning PJ's and night PJ's), get a workout in, and start some more cleaning.  Mike headed off to work today for his first day back.  Prayers that he stays healthy as he is in and out of the hospital!!!!

Tired dogs.....

In the midst of doing all the puzzles....

More puzzles......

 Eggs and waffles, anyone???

Gymnastics teammates practicing together, virtually......

Trying to find the humor.....

While in Mexico, we got the text that the kids will not be going back to school for sometime.  They will be "virtually learning" from home.
In these uncertain times, I've been trying to find the humor.....here are a few of the things that have made me chuckle.....

Leigh-Anne, Taylor, and I also made our own humor the other night.  Did a little video snap chatting and had a little photo shoot.....how do we look as triplets???

The Rona vs Mexico

The Rona vamped up a lot since the last post.  I had posted that on Tuesday night, and by Thursday night I was FREAKED!!!!  We were suppose to leave for Mexico the next morning, and I had decided Thursday afternoon that we were not going.  The kids were devastated and mad.....I get it.  I didn't like it either and I was an adult, so I can only imagine how frustrating they thought it was.

We had planned this trip with the Kiewiets, so I had been talking to Maggie throughout the day telling her I didn't think we should go.  She till wanted to go.  So then Maddie, Nate, Mike, and I got in a group text and I was being outnumbered.  They all thought we should still go.

By 8:00 that night, I was outnumbered and I had to start packing.  I did a really terrible job on packing.  One, because I wasn't in favor of going, and two, because it was literally less than 12 hours before we had to be on the plane.

The kids were stoked!!!  Maddie slid this sweet little note on my bed before she went to bed that night.

The next morning around 4:30am, as we are standing in the kitchen with all the kids, getting ready to head to the airport, in comes this text from Maggie.  The thread continued until we arrived at the airport.  Nate was getting cold feet too, and I was ready to bail again, but, NOPE, still going......

We all put on our safety wear and hit the airport......

Once we got there, we DID have a good time.  But I had never been more happy to be back home and in my own house!!!!  Ready to hunker down and be quarantined with the fam.....

Oh the hype.....of the CORONA VIRUS......

I'm just gonna leave this right here.......I thought it was funny......

This dog, still lacks space/body awareness......

Yep, still prefers to sit right on TOP of me.  Two wide open couches, and he choses to sit right on me......good thing he is cute!

This child.....

It's a good thing he is sweet and smart...cause he sure can drive one crazy!!!!
SOOOOOO slow in the morning!  I mean, soooooo slow in the morning!!!
Today Maddie put his lunch in his bag for him, I filled his water bottle, and he still came to the car 3 minutes after everyone, looking like this!!!
Donut hanging out of his mouth, you can't see his feet, but they are shoeless, as he had just thrown his shoes on the floor to put them on in the car......and the girls are screaming at him, "we are gonna be LATE!!!!"
Mornings are NOT peaceful around here!!!

A Fancy 13th Birthday Party

One of Peyton's friends had one of those super fancy 13th birthday parties.  She invited 70 people and the parents fed them all a nice dinner at the Lodge and then had a dance.  The dress attire was "semi formal."  As you can imagine, Peyton doesn't own anything that would classify as "semi formal" so we had to do a little shopping.
She went to a friend's house before the party to get ready with a few other girls.  They had a great time!!!  The social life of a 13 year old is exhausting!!!!

If you're gonna be injured....make yourself useful....

Well, Peyton....you're inured and can't participate in any of your extra curricular activities, so time for you to earn your keep around here.  Perfect time for you to learn some life skills.....cooking!!

One of her favorite meals is boneless pork chops.....

She cooked the meal by herself and she did a good job!!  Just enough for she and Jack.  Maddie was gone for the evening to gymnastics.  Now, lets see if she remembers how for the next time......
