BEGGERS!!

I mean…..them little beggers…….I wish I could remember what Emily was eating.

Surgery Day

Mike and Jack left BRIGHT and EARLY for his surgery.  All went well, and they were home by 10:00.  Jack has two pins, which the ends are sticking out of his hand so that they can be easily removed in a few weeks, once the bone has healed.  Kind of gross if you ask me....

Trip to Iowa to Watch the Nats

The Naturals went to Iowa for the weekend.  Jack could not play because of his broken hand.  But Mike and Jack went up to watch the boys play.  The Naturals had a new first base coach.

The girls and I stayed home, as we had plenty to do around the house, especially since Jack couldn’t play….and it was COLD!  The championship game started LATE…..so Jack and Mike left before the championship game, as Jack had to be at the surgery center the next morning by 5:00am for his surgery.  Jack watched them on the phone on the way home, to watch them win the championship game!!

Saying Goodbye to Father Jack

Our beloved Father Jack passed away.  The only priest my children have known (well not the ONLY one, but one that has been in their lives from the beginning).  And what a gem he was!!!  A priest that loved children and put the children and the parish school high on the priority list. A priest that knew almost every single day school child by name (and there was about 550 of them).  Present in the classroom, before school, after school, on the playground, in the cafeteria, etc.  He was amazing!  And we will miss him!!!!

Father Daughter Homework Time

Mike and Peyton trying to work on math homework at BWW together……not always a pleasant duo……but I think they got it done…..

SJA Father Daughter Dance

St Joe’s Father Daughter dance……Freshman year milestones……

The dance had a dinner included and they sat at a table with her soccer friends.

Broken Thumb for Jack

Pretty crappy weekend for Jack.  Third tournament of the season……a season he has worked so hard for.  He has put in the work in the off season and ready to crush it this spring/summer.  While he was catching a Saturday game there was a play at the plate.  A very routine play, nothing looked crazy about it.  Jack tagged the guy, got him out and hustled off the field.  The next inning when he came out to catch, the first ball he caught in the warm up, he shook his hand and threw off his mitt.  He walked off the field and didn’t return……

His thumb hurt him really bad.  When the runner had slid into him it had kind off hyper extended his thumb and hurt him pretty badly.

Later that week it was still bothering him a lot.  Mike scanned him that Thursday, to find out it was broken and probably needing surgery as well.  After speaking to a few of the ortho surgeons he knows, they all agreed he should probably have the surgery and get it fixed correctly.  WHAT.A.BUMMER!!!

So this picture was me watching the end of the tournament from my car.  It was super cold outside and Jack couldn’t play, so I watched from my car, with the heater on……

Whose Couch??

A very typical scene in the Friedman house.  Gus will happily find ANYONE that is sitting on the couch!!!  And usually he prefers to sit right on top of them....

First SJA Soccer Game

First SJA soccer game.  And what a fun one it was.  Playing against CJA and one of your besties makes it even more fun.  It was a good, close game!  I cannot remember, but we either tied or lost by one……either way, it was fun and so good to see Vita!!

Pool Goes in the Ground

YAY!!!  Came home one day and they had showed up to dig and put the pool in the ground.....this was on March 25.....SOOOOO, a month after it was delivered, if anyone was trying to keep track!

But still exciting, nonetheless.

Maddie Cantors

Maddie and her friend, Claire, got asked to cantor for the 3rd grade Father’s Mass…….she was so nervous, I was surprised.  But she did it with confidence!!!

Country Life

The closest we can get to the “country life” living in the “big city.”……a front yard full of turkey!

Championship Sunday

A Sudnay-fun-day……is always possible with “Championship Sunday.”  The championship game actually got over at a decent hour so we headed to a cool place in Columbia, IL that had lots of outdoor stuff for the kids to do.

The boys spent most of their time at a golf simulator and sand volleyball.

Good times!

State Gymnastics Meet

State Meet!!!!  Maddie placed in all her events.  She scored a little lower on bars than normal, which is usually her super strong event.  We aren’t sure why…..but she still placed in everything and had a great day with her teammates!!  By the time her age was complete and awards were over, it was time for the age older than her which is one of her gym besties, London’s age group.  So we all stayed and cheered London on as well.  The meet was local this year, being at Lindenwood University.  So it was no big deal to stay.

Once London was finished and she got her awards, we all headed to dinner at Dewey’s and then ice cream at Andy’s.  The girls were super silly and having a ton of fun……celebrating the end of their meet season.

Mom's Bed is Always a Crowd Favorite

Everyone in Moms bed……Peyton, Jack, Annie, and Gus….although Gus didn’t make the photo…..Annie barely did!

Spring Break 2022

Maddie was not able to go on spring break, as she had to stay back for gym.  Her state meet is always the second weekend of spring break and they cannot compete if they do not practice the week before.  So Grandma Jeanne agreed to stay at our house and get Maddie to her gym practices.  Peyton stayed back as well, as she had soccer practice the second half of spring break.  Mike worked.  So that left Jack and I.  We decided to head to Florida for the better part of the week to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Farm.  We were originally hoping to catch some Cardinal’s spring training games, but turns out the MLB boys were on strike.  Jack invited Gabe to go with us and off we went.  Gabe, Jack and I…..and Gabe’s big fishing poles…..ha!!

The boys fished, we went to the beach, we pooled, pickle balled, shuffled boarded, and introduced Gabriel to a lot of new foods!  HA!  We also tried to introduce Gabriel to a shower house but he was having NO part of that!!  The boys ate countless bags of chips and cookies, ran on minimal hours of sleep, ate their weight in cookies and spent many late night hours on the Xbox.

We had a great time!!

Meanwhile, while Jack and I were gone Grandma Jeanne was holding down the fort and getting Maddie off to her last day of school before break, which also happened to be the day of the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
