Another One Bites the Dust

......COVID got Jack 10 days after it got Peyton.  Luckily for Jack also, it was very mild.  He had a stuffy nose and a night of body aches.

They actually shut down the 8th grade a day after Jack got diagnosed as they had too many cases in the class.  That was a bummer for Jack.  I think he was looking forward to 5 days in the basement with the Xbox.....instead, since they shut the 8th graders down, they had virtual school instead.   Bummer.

SLGC Home Meet

UGH!!!!  The weekend of the year I DREAD!!!  Our gym hosts this meet and we end up having to work SO much of it throughout the weekend.  I don't mind the shifts through the weekend, except the tear down.  Miserable!!!!  Lots of heavy carrying and breakdown of the gyms to load all the equipment back on the trucks.  And LATE!!!  My shift was from 4:30-10:30 Sunday night.  YUCK!!

Maddie didn't have the best meet either.  She did the best she could.  She's been having trouble with her knee.  She has something called "jumpers knee."  So she hasn't been able to fully practice the last couple weeks and she can't vault at all.  So she was a little hesitant on her tumbling on the floor and her dismounts on the beam and bars, and it showed in her scores.  She was in the mid 8's for most of her scores.  She scratched vault and didn't do that one at all.

We've decided to shut her down for at least a month to give her leg some time to heal hopefully!!!  She's not happy about the timing of it, being that it's right in the middle of meet season.  I feel bad for her, but I've told her it's one of many obstacles she will come across being an athlete.

New Year, Same Start

Well, some people like to start their New Year with a new diet plan, new exercise plan, etc....the Friedman evidently like to start with COVID.  Last year we started the New Year with Peyton having COVID.  This year......we started it with, Peyton having COVID.

Luckily she didn't have it bad.  Just a stuffy nose and a one day headache.  And also lucky for her and us the CDC has came out with new guidelines since last year.  She only had to quarantine in her room for 5 days, and then she could come out with a mask on.  The other kids could also go back to school since they are vaccinated and not experiencing any symptoms.

Peyton is Jack's confirmation sponsor and they had a one day retreat to attend at church.  Due to so many COVID cases in the area, they offered it life streamed on the TV as well......thanks goodness because Peyton would not have been able to attend.  So they put on their masks and watched the retreat from the comfort of the couch.
