Nats Tournament Victory

A fun tournament for the Naturals.  The final game was again Yadi's son, so that was some good, cheesy fun. The picture below is Jack high-fiving his son.

Maddie the frog catcher

Maddie is REALLY into catching frogs out of our little fish pond.  I'm not sure her friend was loving it quite as much.....

Chicago or bust....

Peyton had a couple soccer league games up in Chicago over the weekend, the exact date was April 27.....so heavily into spring at this point.
The girls got home from 6th grade camp at 3:30, they went home showered, we started their nasty and wet laundry, and then hit the road to Chicago.  We picked the Lorms girls up on our way and off we went.
The girls fell asleep about half way there, they were super tired from camp.  We pulled into the hotel around 12:30 and they had our room completely messed up.  We finally got in our room and was able to go to sleep.  The next morning we wake up to a ton of snow and cancelled soccer games.  So we were back on the road headed home by 10:30 in the morning.  UGH!!!

Just because......

6th Grade Camp

Hi ho hi ho, it’s off to sixth grade camp she goes!!!  Terrible timing with her back, as she couldn’t do some of the things, but she made the best of it and went anyway.
It POURED the entire three days if camp!!  And I mean poured!!!  I went down and volunteered the second day and I had brought an extra change of clothes for me for the car ride home.  I ended up leaving that change of clothes and anything else I had with any girl that could fit in it.  The kids did not have one single dry piece of clothing left.  The rooms STUNK!!!  But they were all still smiling and making the best of it!!

Easter

This was the first Easter that there was no Farm.  So we hosted Easter morning brunch for the Wondel side.  We ate, hung out, egg hunted, and then everyone went on their ways to other places.  We only had three egg hunters this year, we are growing up.  :(

Grandma and Grandpa Farm scored the MO Bank's Cardinals seats, so they had four tickets.  At first, they were gonna take Peyton and me, cause Jack wanted to go fishing at GG's house.  As we were pulling out of the driveway, he changed his mind and wanted to go.  I had to sacrifice me ticket....it was a beautiful day for fishing AND baseball.  The Friedman kids even finally brought him a win!  Mike, Maddie and I headed out to GG's for Easter and fishing.

It was a beautiful day!

Thunder Tournament

Jack's little school team, the Thunder, which he has played on since he was little bitty played a tournament over in IL.  They came out on top and those boys were so happy!!

It is some bad baseball, but Jack loves playing with them!!  He gets to do things on this team that he does not get to do on his Naturals team.  The level play is much lower, pitching much different.....in fact that's what he loves.  Jack gets to pitch on this team, and at this level is a very good pitcher!!!

He pitched three innings in pool play and 4 innings in the championship game.  If he was a "real" pitcher, he'd never be able to throw that much at this age, but Jack doesn't over-powering anything, not putting too much strain on his arm.  He was responsible for 10 of the 12 outs in those 4 innings.

Here the smiley boys are.....

Maddie's Public Speaking Debut

The kindergarten classes get to plan one mass at the end of the school year.  It is super exciting for them!!  Maddie got to read the 1st reading.....a VERY long reading!!!!  She practiced her little heart out the full week before mass and nailed it!  I was very proud of her.....she did a great job and took it very serious.
I'm always amazed at how well ALL of these kids do at reading at mass.  Their school has 500 kids in it, then add the parents and all the faculty, and they are easily speaking infront of 650 people!!  Good skill to have in life!!

Notice her little step stool behind the podium.  Love when the little kids have to climb up there using the step stool!!  So cute!!  The second picture was at the end of mass, Father Greg, recognized all the kindergarteners for their first mass they prepared and asked them to all stand up on the pews.  I'm sure they thought they were BIG STUFF!!!  So much cuteness in one mass!

First REAL Sports Injury

Peyton had been compiling about her back hurting a little bit in the spring.  Soccer and already started  back up and she was still in basketball season too.  We kept telling her, she just needed to stretch more.  Her body is now built like a woman, she is full of muscle, but never stretches.

At her last CYC basketball game, I did notice that everytime she was lined up at the free throw line, she would grab her lower back.  After that game she told me her back was killing her.  We got in the car and headed down the road to her soccer game.  As she was switching uniforms in the back seat, I heard her say, "owe, owe."  I turned around and I said, "what is owe?"  She said, "My back!  I told you it's hurting me."  So her little movement of lifting her legs out of one uni and into another was hurting her.  That's when I knew it must be real.  She went to her soccer game, played a solid first half.  But right after half time I could tell she was running at about 80% and I saw her wiping tears.  We, all the parents on the sidelines, yelled at her enough and convinced her to tell coach so that he would take her out.

He took her out the rest of the game, she game back the next day (it was a tournament) and tried to play, but that didn't last long either.  We shut her down that week, made her stretch a ton, took her to Gallaghers trainer, and too her to a stretching place hoping to stretch it out of her.  After a week of lots of stretching and no activity, she was still not better.  Mike had us come up to work and he scanned her.   Turns out, she had a stress fracture in her lower back.

We went and saw ortho the next week and he shut her down from EVERYTHING for three months!!!  He told her she couldn't even swim for fun, as we were approaching summer.  So, from mid April until mid July, she could do nothing except PT three times a week!!

LOOOOOOONNNGGGG summer ahead......

Here she is....lots of stretching and foam rolling....unfortunately, wasn't the problem this time!

Donuts with MOM

Well this is a good one!!!
Mike leaves at 5am every morning for work.  On this particular April day, it was donuts with MOM at school.  Like usual, Mike left at 5am for work, and I get the kids up and get everyone to school for donuts with MOM.  About 7:45 we see Mike stroll through the school cafeteria doors, for what he thought was donuts with DAD......HA!!  We went ahead and let him know that donuts with DAD was actually last month and then sent him back to work.  Solid effort tho, DAD!

A "Ruff" Winter....

Well I drug the dogs with me to Peyton's soccer practice.  They were VERY excited to go.  They drug me there first mile, and I drug them the last two!!!  Winter was tough on them too.....we all have a little work to do from our winter.
