Maddie had been totally bummed since learning that the Texas meet and First Reconciliation were on the same weekend. She knew she couldn't go to Texas and had accepted it. So once the meet schedule came out, and the girls didn't compete until Sunday, I called the gym to see if Maddie could be added on. With COVID, meets have been way more flexible with late adds and cancels......so they let Maddie be added on. She was THRILLED, as she now was able to do both things.
Once Maddie's First Reconciliation was over, we headed home. We changed clothes, finished packing our bags, and off to the airport we went. We got to Texas about dinner time. We caught an Uber, got to our hotel and got checked in, and then met some of her teammates for a quick dinner. Once dinner was over we headed back to the hotel and went to bed, as we had to be up super early for the meet.
We went and had a quick breakfast with London before the meet. The meet was good, our girls competed well, but boy did we see some good competition! I guess Texas is the place you go if you want to be like an olympian. The girls there, at age 7 and 8, are already in gym academies and LIVING at their gymnastics center. CRAZY!!!!!
Maddie still ended up placing in two events and all around.....so she left with some hardware and a smile.
We had some time to kill before our flight, so we went to lunch with her teammates and then headed to the airport.
Other than the meet, I think the highlight was getting TikTuck shirts to match her pals. LOL!! They love them some TikTok! She had a great weekend!!
