1st Grade Christmas Around the World

In first grade, they don't have a Christmas program.  Instead they prepare a presentation of "Christmas around the World."  The kids are assigned groups and then assigned a country.  They have to learn how that country celebrates Christmas.  Then the parents, grandparents, etc come in and tour the kids' "Christmas Around the World," and let our children teach us how other countries celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Peyton's group had Italy.  Here are a few things they taught us about Italy:
*They celebrate with a fruit cake with raisins for breakfast
*Instead of St. Nick, they have a witch, La Befana who brings them gifts and comes down the chimney.
*On Christmas night the kids made letters for their parents that they would stop mis behaving, and then they sit around the fire and throw the letters in the fire.

There wasn't many "picture-taking opportunities" at this event, so this is what I got.

You can catch a small glimpse of Peyton's drawing of La Befana on the desk.
